The Brigade Petunia site, at Banashankari, was originally home to the offices of the Indo-American Hybrid Seeds company. Established in 1965, the company was a pioneer in producing and exporting hybrid seeds in India. Since then, it has moved to Uttarhalli on the Banashankari-Kengeri link road. A gentle reminder of its legacy, The "Garden Centre"—a sales outlet of the company—now stands on the plot of land adjoining Brigade Petunia.

Indo-American Hybrid Seeds was the first to bring the pretty Petunia flower to India. A native of South America, the Petunia is well recognised the world over as one of the most popular bedding plants. Possessing beautiful trumpet-shaped flowers, the Petunia bursts forth in a multitude of colours; its variety and distinct colour range adding to its wide appeal.
