"Smouldering Cell" by Ramesh Rao

Ramesh Rao, hails from the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, and is being recognised as an important painter.

He is the recipient of the Karnataka, Kerala and Madras Regional Centre Lalit Kala Akademi awards and the Kumaran Asan's Centenary Award, Trivandrum.

He has had several one-man and group shows in Dakshina Kannada, Bangalore, Bombay, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kerala. He has participated in the Central Lalit Kala Akademi's National Exhibition of Art and also in group shows in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Johannesburg.

Ramesh Rao's paintings are featured in reputed Indian corporate and public collections—including those at the Lalit Kala Akademi and National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi—and many private collections all over India and abroad.

His commissioned paintings have been auctioned by Sotheby's and Asprey's.

He is the founder of the Udupi-Manipal Artists Forum
