Kamalesh
Born in Mysore, Kamalesh is a master of many artistic mediums: from water colours to oil-on-canvas to portraiture. However, he is best known for his exquisite illustrations of historical monuments. His latest work, commissioned by Brigade Group, is featured in the 2003 calendar.
The magic of Kamalesh's sketches lies in his ability to recreate ambience and architecture with equal felicity. His dimensional accuracy and perspective are faultless, though he never uses any measuring devices. Nor does he ever erase a line he has drawn. Each illustration is completed at one sitting, at the site.
Kamalesh's use of white spaces enhances settings and lends scale and perspective to the subject he is covering.
With many honours to his credit, Kamalesh has served as artist, researcher, teacher and art consultant. He has held exhibitions and one-man shows all over India. His sketches and paintings have been acquired by several organisations in India, and are in private collections in the USA, UK, Germany and the former Soviet Union.
