Young Achievers 2012
A summary of Results
The Young Achiever Award, now in its eighth successive year, is a state-wide search to identify young achievers in different spheres of activity. The Award was instituted in 2006 by Brigade Group, in association with Rotary Bangalore Midtown, with the objective of recognising and encouraging the efforts of young achievers in Karnataka. The selected individual or team receives a citation, trophy and cash prize of Rs 100,000.
The results of the Brigade Group Rotary Bangalore Midtown Young Achiever 2012 were announced at the awards’ function held at the Sheraton Bangalore Hotel on 13 January 2013. Sugata Srinivasaraju, editor, Vijaya Karnataka, was the chief guest, and presented the Young Achiever 2012 trophy and citation to Varun Agarwal, author-entrepreneur and a multifaceted achiever.
M. R. Jaishankar, CMD, Brigade Group, presented the Young Achiever a cheque for Rs 1,00,000. Special mention awards, with a citation and cash prize, were also presented to Adil Arif, Animal rescue and welfare activist, and to V. Vijayalakshmi, a visually challenged musician and online teacher.

Young Achievers 2011
A summary of Results
The results of the state-wide search for the Young Achiever 2011 were announced at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Bangalore Hotel on 11 November. Chief Guest Harish Hande, noted social entrepreneur and Magsaysay Award winner, presented the Young Achiever 2011 trophy and citation to Kuldeep Dantewadia.
M. R. Jaishankar, CMD, Brigade Group, then presented the Young Achiever a cheque for Rs 1,00,000. Special mention awards, with a citation and cash prize, were also presented to Vishal Kumar Jain (Community Service), Sharmada Balu (Tennis) and Arundhuti Gupta (Community Service/Special Entrepreneurship).

Pavitra Chalam wins UK film award
The Young Achiever Award was instituted by Brigade Group and Rotary Bangalore Midtown in 2006 to recognise and encourage the efforts of young achievers in Karnataka.
Many of our winners have gone on to win more awards and accolades. The most recent among these is Pavitra Chalam, who a joint winner in 2009 for her sensitive, culturally significant and awareness-raising social documentary films. We are delighted at her latest achievement.

Due to the increased number of young achievers at the highest level, and the greater number of achievers in sports, we have introduced two categories for this year: General and Sports. The prize money to has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

Founder-Director of Vindhya E-Infomedia, a BPO that employs over 200 people, but 95% of whom are differently challenged physically.
Achala Paani
Founder and Managing Trustee of Lets' Live Together, a registered Animal Protection Organisation for the welfare of homeless dogs in Bangalore.
Sports:
Rakesh Manpat
Professional shooter with national and international achievements.
Suraj Narredu
A champion jockey, the youngest to win 1000 races in India.
Special Mention Awards
Ramya K. Aithal
Despite a paralysis of right upper and lower limbs and impaired vision, has graduated in MA and MPhil in English with the help of audio books and scribes and presently teaches in a college near Mangalore.
Sharath M. Gayakwad
A differently abled (without the left arm) swimming champion who has won national and international competitions.

Past winners:
- 2008: Tennis player Rohan Bopanna shared the award with Team Garuda, who designed and fabricated India's first ever super mileage car that runs for 180 km on a single litre of petrol.
- 2007: National swimmer Rehan Poncha shared the award with Team Ashwa, who designed and fabricated India's first race car prototype and won two awards in their debut race in Australia.
- 2006: National swimmer Shikha Tandon shared the prize with Manasi Prasad, who has exceptional achievements in the fields of academics and music.
